La Suite

The story of a Burgundy Paris piece truly begins when it leaves the House.

It then enters a new life, made of everyday gestures, journeys, movement and encounters. The leather evolves, the materials take on a patina, certain marks appear and the piece gradually acquires the traces of the woman who carries it.

La Suite is the Burgundy Paris service dedicated to the care, repair and restoration of its pieces.

The House steps in when a piece needs particular attention, with the same care given to its material, its finishes and its proportions as when it was created.

Taking care

Everyday care rests on a few simple gestures.

A soft, dry cloth is generally enough to remove dust or a light mark. It is best to avoid creams, oils and care products when they are not needed: each leather has its own characteristics and an ill-suited intervention can change its hand, its colour or its finish.

When the piece is not being carried, its dust bag protects it from light, humidity and rubbing. A dry, temperate place suits it better than a space subject to strong changes in temperature.

Perfumes, cosmetics and products containing alcohol can also alter certain finishes. It is best to let them dry before handling the piece.

If the leather meets water

A shower or a splash can be part of a piece’s life.

If it gets damp, gently absorb the water with a clean, dry cloth, without rubbing, then let it dry naturally at room temperature.

Direct heat is to be avoided. A hairdryer, a radiator or any other heat source can alter the structure of the leather, its finish or the shape of the piece.

If a mark remains after drying, it is better to avoid any further attempt at cleaning and to ask the House for advice.

The materials

Each material has its own characteristics.

Smooth, grained, suede or exotic leathers do not react in the same way to products, humidity or rubbing. Care should therefore be adapted to the material rather than applied according to a single method.

For exotic leathers in particular, the House can tell you the precautions specific to the material and its finish.

The hardware

The metal elements also evolve over time.

A soft, dry cloth is generally enough to remove handling marks. Abrasive products, sponges and polishing products not suited to the finish are to be avoided.

Repeated contact with water, perfumes or certain cosmetic products can change the appearance of the metal. Each finish has its own characteristics and deserves suitable attention.

Repair

A seam can weaken, an edge can show wear, a finish can lose some of its shine or a hardware element can require an intervention.

Whenever possible, Burgundy Paris favours repair and restoration in order to preserve the piece and extend its use.

Each request is examined individually. The House assesses the condition of the piece, identifies the possible interventions and tells you their nature, lead time and cost before taking the piece in.

Restore

Some pieces call for a more substantial intervention.

When their condition allows, Burgundy Paris can undertake a restoration intended to bring back the balance and appearance of the piece while respecting the materials it is made of.

A restoration does not seek to erase the time that has passed. It allows a piece that has lived a great deal to regain the conditions it needs to go on being carried.

Entrusting a piece

To call on La Suite, write to us with a few photographs of your piece and a description of what you would like to entrust to us.

The House will study your request and tell you the possible interventions before taking the piece in.

La Suite thus extends the relationship that begins with every Burgundy Paris piece: a service designed for the pieces one chooses, carries and wishes to go on carrying.
