Gold or silver, the hardware draws a clean contrast on the black leather. Both start from the same stainless steel: one receives a 24-carat gold deposit by electroplating, the other is polished and left bare. The choice changes the care as much as the way it ages.
Hardware doesn't need regular upkeep, only avoiding what attacks it. A microfibre cloth is enough to lift a fingerprint or a trace of dust.
On the gold finish, avoid direct, repeated contact with perfume, hand cream or hand sanitiser: the alcohol they contain attacks the gold deposit faster than ordinary use. The silver finish doesn't mind this contact, since the steel is bare.
Like any polished metal, hardware is sensitive to micro-scratches: that's part of its natural life, the same way leather takes on a patina. It's also why how the bag is handled, day to day, matters.
The full care routine is on the care page.
